Jaclyn Schmidt
Executive Director for the Water and Waste Policy Branch at Alberta Environment and Protected Areas
Jaclyn Schmidt is currently in the role of Executive Director for the Water and Waste Policy Branch at Alberta Environment and Protected Areas. As part of its broader waste management accountabilities, the Waste Policy section of the branch is responsible for ensuring that Alberta’s new extended producer responsibility framework is implemented effectively and efficiently as a critical foundational piece of reducing Alberta’s waste impacts to the environment and achieving Alberta’s plastics circular economy goals.
Jaclyn has been with the Government of Alberta since 2006 in multiple technical, policy, and leadership roles tackling complex challenges in natural resources and industry development departments. She has a multidisciplinary background with a Masters of Environmental Science that serves as her foundation, and a passion for growing policy capacity in the public service.
