As part of Phase 1 of the Canada-wide Action Plan on Zero Plastic Waste, CCME will develop guidance to facilitate consistent extended producer responsibility (EPR) policies for plastics across Canada. CCME is seeking input from stakeholders and other interested parties to inform the development of consistent EPR policies on accessibility; common product definitions; performance requirements; roles and responsibilities; measurement and transparency; and transitioning to EPR.

CCME has posted a discussion paper that provides context regarding current EPR policies in Canada and poses strategic questions on how governments can improve consistency across jurisdictions. The discussion paper includes links to an online survey to collect comments and feedback. The survey will be open until December 5, 2019.
